Rafael Romero Peña (1988, ES/NL) is a visual artist, writer, and filmmaker based in ​Rotterdam. His work explores the concept of “gaze” and its deconstruction ​through sculpture, writing, and film. Rafael is particularly interested in how ​contextual images are staged or depicted through the sociopolitical biographies ​of objects, architecture, and collective memory. He frequently uses storytelling ​and fiction to examine themes of legacy, belonging, and heritage.

His work is part of the Association of European Cinematheques Archive and has ​been showcased at international venues including the Festival de Cine Europeo ​de Sevilla, the Transatlantyk Festival in Łódź, the Kolkata International Film ​Festival in India, and the Fotofocus Symposium Biennial in Cincinnati, USA.
